Jonathan is a passionate exponent of new music and his work as a chamber musician and as a  soloist has given him the opportunity to give premiere performances of music by some of the worlds finest living composers.

During his work with the IGF Young Artist Platform 2018 group What Guitar Trio, Jonathan had the opportunity to give international and national premieres of music and arrangements by Gerald Barry, Piyawat Louilarpprasert, Beat Furrer and Graham Lynch. What Guitar Trio is a specialist 20th Century music ensemble and is still actively based in London.

As a soloist he has commissioned and premiered works by composers such as Philip Cashian, Juan Erena, Dr Robert Spearing, Inés Badado, Micheal Anthony Hughes, Ben Lunn, Alex Corlett and Fintan O’hare.

One of the most fulfilling musical experiences was the collaboration on ‘Owain’s Nativity’ with the Welsh Composer Dr Robert Spearing. After commissioning the piece in 2017 Jonathan had an active, collaborative with the composer in order to explore the timbral and harmonic possibilities of the guitar.

In 2020 Jonathan was dedicated the piece ‘I Remember You’ by the Spanish composer Juan Erena. The piece was premiered at the retrospective of the composers works at the Music Faculty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2021 and the work occupies a central role in Jonathan’s upcoming C.D of 20th and 21st Century Spanish Music, ‘I Remember You’.
